The IMREN is a versatile city electric bike with enough grit to take a detour off the pavement and onto the trails. With a rear rack, front suspension, fat tires and an upright riding position, the IMREN can fulfill a variety of roles, like commuting to work, delivering pizzas, or finally taking that adventure you’ve been thinking about.

The IMREN has a starting price of $1,899 USD, but with the $200 discount code available on the company’s website, the price drops to $1,699 USD. IMREN also offers free shipping, which helps save another couple hundred bucks, and a 1-year comprehensive warranty.

Right, let’s dive into the specs.

The IMREN is equipped with a 750 watt hub motor in the rear wheel that can bring this electric bike up to a top speed of 20 mph by using the cadence sensing pedal assist, or the half grip twist throttle. This makes the IMREN a class 2 electric bike, which is helpful for those who live in an area with strict e-bike laws, but if you’re living in the wild, wild west, you can unlock the top speed in the settings.

Like all cadence sensors, there’s some latency with motor activation and deactivation when pedaling, but the throttle responsiveness is top notch. As soon as you twist that throttle, the motor comes to life.

And 750 watts of power is more than enough to ride the IMREN like a moped by using just the throttle, and if you plan on using this as a commuter, it’ll help you arrive at your destination sweat free. Of course, for those who live in San Francisco-level hilly areas, pedaling will help get you to the top of those otherwise insurmountable peaks.

The IMREN’s 48 volt, 16 amp hour, locking and removable battery is housed inside the downtube and uses high quality Samsung cells to give this e-bike a max estimated range of 35 to 60 miles per charge in ideal conditions. Now, when it comes to real world riding, there’s a lot of variables that can contribute to the range. We’re talking about payload, wind, terrain, hills, speed, tire pressure… I mean, if you really want to get precise, even humidity plays a small role. In other words, it’s difficult to predict exactly how many miles you’ll get out of the battery, but around 35 miles seems like a fair estimate.

The IMREN’s curb weight is approximately 76 pounds, and the frame can support a max payload of 350 pounds, which is pretty good, especially for those that want to load up the rear rack.

I appreciate the green and white color scheme and particularly dig the red branding accent. It adds a nice bit of flair.

With internally routed wires and an internally housed battery, the IMREN isn’t exactly stealthy, but it is streamlined.

I also love that the sloping top tube helps to reduce the standover height, but because the saddle interferes with the rear rack, the minimum saddle height is a little higher than it needs to be.

Thankfully, since the rear rack is bolted instead of welded, it can be removed with a few quick turns of the wrench. And for those who prefer a lower saddle height and don’t need a rear rack, this might be a good option.

When it comes to actually riding the IMREN, the feeling is one of relaxation. It’s a very upright and chill riding posture and with the wide saddle, front spring suspension and 26” by 4” fat tires, it’s pretty smooth. Of course, if you want to go all out, you could get an aftermarket seat post suspension to make it even more cush.

At the back of the IMREN we’ve got a Shimano Altus 7-speed derailleur paired with a Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter. The Altus is a nice upgrade point from the entry-level Tourney and will help to shift gears more smoothly.

To bring the IMREN to a stop we’ve got Logan hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors. This is another huge upgrade point from the entry-level mechanical disc brakes, and offer quite a bit more stopping power. The IMREN is also equipped with motor inhibitors which instantly cut power to the motor whenever you hit the brakes. This is a fantastic safety feature that ensures you always have the shortest possible stopping distance, and for that the IMREN gets 10 points.

On the left side of the handlebars we’ve got the independent button pad, and on the right side we’ve got the half-grip twist throttle and the SIS Index thumb shifter. And in the middle rests the LED display.

Overall, the IMREN offers a lot of bang for your buck. With the $200 discount the price comes out to a relatively low $1,699, but it still has a powerful 750 watt motor, Samsung cells, hydraulic disc brakes, a rack, and suspension. The IMREN will be a good fit for those who need an e-bike that can fill a variety of roles.
