2023 Ride1Up Turris Review

The Ride1Up Turris will cost you around $1,295 USD, but trust me, this thing is jam-packed with value, so don’t think this is some low-quality Ebike. The Turris is starting 2023 off with a bang, and in our opinion, Ride1Up may be the forerunner for the best-value Ebike on the market! Now, we’re an unbiased review channel over here, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that this is seriously an affordable Ebike to consider! This bike comes from a company that knows a thing or two about Ebikes, and they're not afraid to show it.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

First off, let's talk about prices. They offer a 1-year warranty, two variants (a step-over and a step-through), and a few color options to choose from, such as Forest Green, Origami White, and Graphite Gray.

MOTOR

Now, let's talk about the motor. The Turris comes equipped with a Shengyi motor that's geared and rear-hubbed. Rear-hubbed? Is that a word? If not, it should be! It's got some real oomph, with a nominal output of 750W and a torque of 60 Nm. You can choose between throttle and pedal assist, and this baby can take you up to a top speed of 28MPH! It's like riding a magical unicorn.

BATTERY

The battery is 48 volts, 12.8 amp hours, and 614 watt-hours, which is like having a giant, supercharged battery pack on your bike. Well…yeah, I guess that’s what it is. And get this, you can charge it up in just four hours! With a max range of up to 40 miles, you can ride this bike all day long, and still have enough juice to ride around tomorrow.

FRAME

The frame of the Turris is made of 6061 aluminum alloy, which means it's strong, durable, and lightweight. The bike weighs in at 55 pounds, and while that sounds like a lot, when compared to the Ride1Up’s Revv1 we recently reviewed, coming in at 93 lbs, this thing is well-balanced and much lighter. This bike can handle up to 300 pounds of weight, so you can bring your furry friend along for the ride, even if your vet keeps telling you he needs to be on a diet. And the geometry is excellent, with a 16-inch reach, 30-inch standover height, and a 72-inch length. It fits perfectly in the Goldilocks zone of Ebikes - not too big, not too small, but just right.

SUSPENSION

The Turris comes with 100mm of front suspension travel, so you can take on the mean streets of the city, or adventure on a trail with ease. There is no rear suspension on this ride, but fear not, the saddle is actually pretty comfortable so you won't be feeling many bumps in the road. The tires here are Kenda Boosters, measuring 27.5" x 2.4", with gummy sidewalls for extra grip. They're like the Chewbacca of tires - strong, reliable, and always ready to ride.

BRAKES

The brakes are Zoom hydraulic, with 180mm rotors on the front and rear. These babies can stop on a dime, which is good because you never know when a rogue squirrel is going to dart out in front of you. Our videographer had me adventuring off the beaten path and there were a few places where the brakes were clutch. Safety first, people.

DRIVETRAIN

The Turris comes with a 46 Tooth chainring and a 12-32 Tooth cassette, and with a Shimano Altus derailleur and Shimano SIS-index 7-speed shifter, the Turris is a blast to putter around on. And there's no ghost pedaling here, folks - just pure, unadulterated power.

LIGHTS/FENDERS/EXTRAS

Ah, yes, let's talk about the extras. The Turris comes equipped with an integrated front light, providing extra visibility for riders during low-light conditions. These lights are definitely bright enough for some brisk night riding! You'll feel like you're guiding Santa's sleigh through a snowstorm with these bad boys. But wait, there's more! The Turris also comes with fenders to keep you and your clothes clean and dry during those wet rides. And if you need to carry some extra gear, you'll be happy to know that this bike comes with rear rack bosses and bottle cage bosses. You can even add a front rack if you want to channel your inner delivery person.

COCKPIT

Now let's move on to the cockpit. The Turris features a comfortable set of handlebars that provide an upright riding position, perfect for cruising through the city or on a light trail. And the LCD display is easy to read and provides all the information you need, including speed, PAS level, trip distance, and battery level. One of the main differences between the step-over and the step-through models is the handlebars, with the step-through model featuring more swept-back handlebars.

OUTRO

Finally, let's wrap this review up. The Ride1Up Turris is an excellent choice for urban and light off-road riders who want a reliable and fun Ebike. With its powerful motor, long-lasting battery, and comfortable frame, this bike is sure to provide you with hours of enjoyable riding. We’re looking forward to other brands trying to outdo the Turris in terms of value. It’ll be hard to beat! So, if you're looking for a high-quality Ebike that won't break the bank, the Ride1Up Turris is definitely worth considering. Our Creative Director even owns one himself!

@tharaka Absolutely! If you're working and need to get that extra 5 miles, then it's exactly what is required! Also, we quote the minimum range, and realistically, you'll probably get more if you pedal around in a lower-level pedal assist. :)

Compare with the other Brands this is more Affordable for 1250$ having a minimum range of 25miles is awesome compare to other models which is around 20miles. Adding 5more miles means a lot specialy when you are a delivery rider😇
