Hello and welcome back to another episode of Electrified Reviews! I hope you are having an absolutely amazing day and if this is your first time here then I just want to say welcome and we are happy to have you. For those of you who have been around for a while, it’s always great to see you back.

Alright so today we’re reviewing the Green Bike EM 26. This is a step thru electric bike with really cool fat tires, a super approachable frame, comfy suspension, integrated lighting and maybe my favorite feature of all, a really loud horn.

The Em 26 has a starting price of $2.099 USD and comes in a 26 inch frame and has three different color configurations — a white frame with white fenders, black frame with black fenders, that’s the one we’re reviewing today, and a black frame with red fenders.

Green Bike offers a 1 year comprehensive warranty on the EM 26, which is nice, and they also offer free shipping anywhere in the U.S., which is really nice.

Okay. Let’s dive into the specs on this one.

The EM 26 has a powerful Bafang 750 nominal watt geared hub drive motor, with an impressive 1200 peak watts of power and 80 Newton meters of torque. This motor feels powerful and even with those big old 4 inch fat tires, it still gets the EM 26 moving to its top speed of 28 mph pretty quickly. This motor has plenty of power to climb moderate to steep hills and is even powerful enough to just skip pedaling all together and use the EM 26 like a moped if you want to. Of course, that will drain the battery pretty quickly.

Speaking of the battery, the EM 26 has a 48 volt 13 amp hour battery with an estimated max range of 50 miles. It is locking and removable of course, and also has a USB A outlet to charge up your accessories. And because the battery is located low on the downtube, it keeps the EM 26 well balanced. If you need even more juice, there is a 17 ah battery upgrade for an additional $200 USD.

The EM 26 is equipped with a cadence sensor, which does have some latency with motor activation and deactivation. Thankfully, this ebike is equipped with a throttle that’s live from 0 mph, and also motor inhibitors, so you can kind of take manual control of motor activation and deactivation if you want to.

The EM 26 also has a Shimano Altus derailleur with a 7 speed cassette and an SIS Index thumb shifter. I’m glad that Green Bike upgraded the derailleur here from a Tourney, but it would be nice if the derailleur were paired with trigger shifters instead of a thumb shifter.

The derailleur is protected by steel cage, which helps keep it from getting damaged if the bike falls over or if you get a random strike. It’s a small piece of gear, but it can really come in handy.

The bring the EM 26 to a stop we’ve got Green Bike branded hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors in the front and rear. Stopping power here is good, especially with the fat tires, and and because these brakes are hydraulic you can actually adjust the resting position of the brake lever to perfectly fit your hand size.

The EM 26 has a curb weight of nearly 65 pounds, which actually isn’t really that bad at all considering the big ol tires, the suspension and the rack. Green Bike also saved a little bit of weight with the punched out rims, which also add some nice flare to the ride as well.

Now, the EM 26 is a step thru frame, and the best thing about a step thru frame is just how easy it is to get on and off. You don’t have to kick your leg all the way over the saddle like on a traditional frame. You can just step right on through!

There’s also a rear rack bolted directly to the frame, which adds some great versatility to the EM 26.

In the front of the EM 26 we’ve got Mozo suspension with 140 mm of travel, preload adjust and lockout. These forks are great for smoothing out the road and you’ll really appreciate them if you end up accidentally hitting a pothole or if you just need to hop off a curb or something. There’s also a seat post suspension and the saddle has spring suspension as well. Combined with the huge air volume in the fat tires, the EM 26 is a very cush ride.

The integrated headlight also doubles as a horn and it’s actually pretty loud. This is a great feature to let people up ahead know you’re approaching. The EM 26 also has an integrated tail light to increase visibility even further.

Wire management on the EM 26 is excellent. Everything is grouped together nicely, they’re bundled, and they’re internally routed. Check, check and check. 10 points for Green Bike.

The handlebars are adjustable, so you can change the angle to perfectly match your reach and desired riding posture. On the left we’ve got the independent button pad with a separate button to activate the lights and horn, and on the right we’ve got the throttle and SIS Index thumb shifter. The Bafang displays are great and super easy to read in direct sunlight from every angle.

The EM 26 is going to shine as a cruiser, commuter, and maybe even a food delivery ebike. It’s got plenty of power and range for all three, especially with that battery upgrade, and the front suspension and seat post suspension means you’ll be able to ride in comfort.
