The Himiway Cruiser step-thru electric bike is a versatile step-thru frame with solid components, a rear rack, suspension, fat tires and a front headlight that’s actually pretty bright!
Power — 750 nominal watts
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has a powerful hub motor with an output of 750 nominal watts and 80 Newton meters of torque. This motor is the perfect blend between sheer power and efficiency, offering the best of both worlds. It’s got more than enough pep to be used with the throttle only for more of a moped feel, or to be unleashed on steep hills.
Speed — 22 mph
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has a top speed about 22 mph, which can be reached by using the pedal assist or the throttle, making this a class 3 electric bike.
Battery and Range — 48 volt 17.5 ah, 60 miles
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike runs on a 48 volt system and comes stock with a hefty 17.4 amp hour battery, offering an estimated max range of 60 miles. The battery is located low on the down tube keeping the center of gravity low and the balance true. The battery is also locking and removable so it can be charged separately from the bike.
Pedal assist sensor — Cadence sensor
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike is equipped with a cadence sensor that measures the rotation of the cranks. Like all cadence sensors, there is some latency between pedaling and motor activation, but it’s not too pronounced and can be overridden with the throttle, which is live from 0 mph.
Display — Himiway, LCD
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike is equipped with a Himiway branded LCD display located on the center of the handlebars. The display is greyscale and very easy to read in direct sunlight. It offers plenty of feedback, including speed, distance, battery level and much more.
Frame and weight — 6061 Aluminum alloy, 72 pounds
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has one color option — white — and one frame size. The Cruiser is made from 6061 aluminum alloy and weighs in at 72 pounds, quite a bit heavier than the average electric bike. There is a grip beneath the saddle to help move and reposition the bike, which does make things a bit easier.
Suspension — Spring suspension, 80 mm of travel,
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has spring suspension that offers approximately 80 mm of travel. It also has a compression clicker and lockout, allowing the suspension to be finely tuned.
Gearing — Shimano, 7 speed
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike uses a Shimano Altus derailleur with a 7 speed cassette. It also has Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter on the right side of the handlebars. I think it would make more sense to have an entry level Tourney derailleur and upgrade the SIS thumb shifter to a trigger shifter, but those that appreciate a higher-end derailleur will likely be happy with this setup.
Brakes — Mechanical disc, 180 mm rotor
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has Tektro mechanical disc brakes with 180 mm rotors in the front and rear. These brakes are ample stopping power, and also have motor inhibitors built into the brake levers, which instantly cut power to the motor whenever they are depressed, ensuring the shortest possible stopping distance.
Warranty — 2 year comprehensive.
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike has a 2 year comprehensive warranty, which is absolutely incredible, especially at this price point.
Price — Starting at $1,399
Starting at $1,399 the Himiway Cruiser is very competitively priced step-thru ebike and offers some incredible value.
Who’s it for — Riders who need an all-around ebike at a reasonable price
The Himiway Cruiser electric bike feels like a good choice for those riders who need a versatile electric bike that can do it all, but don’t want to pay out the nose for it. At $1,399, the Cruiser is a good value buy, and will serve well as a long distance commuter, cargo bike (especially because of the attachment points on the front of the frame that can accommodate a basket), or even as a light trail bike thanks to the fat tires and suspension. In essence, the Cruiser is the jack of all trades!
