The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike is an incredibly powerful mid-drive with fat tires, front suspension and a hefty battery to help it power through the mud, snow, sand and pretty much anything else you can throw at it.
Power — 1000 nominal watts, 1500 peak watts
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has a powerful Bafang mid-drive motor with an output of 1000 nominal watts and 1500 peak watts with a whopping 160 Newton meters of torque. This motor is the perfect solution for unlocking maximum power, both because it can leverage the gearing of the rear cassette and also because of its high wattage output and torque.
Speed — 28 mph
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has a top speed 28 mph, which can be reached by using the pedal assist or the throttle. This makes the Fat-HD a class 3 electric bike, which might be restricted in some places.
Battery and Range — 48 volt 15.6 ah, 40 miles
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike runs on a 48 volt system and comes with a 15.6 amp hour battery, offering an estimated max range of 40 miles. Eunorau also offers an upgradable 21 amp hour battery to seriously increase the range. The battery is located on the down tube keeping the center of gravity low and the balance true. The battery is also locking and removable so it can be charged separately from the bike.
Pedal assist sensor — Torque sensor
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike is equipped with a torque sensor that measures the torque placed on the cranks. This is wonderful to see on a bike at this price point, and helps to give a truly responsive feel when riding. Unlike cadence sensors, torque sensors allow for near instant activation and deactivation of the motor when the rider starts and stops pedaling. This is especially important for an electric bike geared towards tackling serious off-road trails.
Display — Eunorau, LCD
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike is equipped with a Eunorau branded LCD display located on the left side of the handlebars. The display is very easy to read in direct sunlight. It offers plenty of feedback, including speed, distance, battery level and much more.
Frame and weight — 6061 Aluminum alloy, 63 pounds
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has two color options — blue and grey— and one frame size, 19 inch. The Fat-HD is made from 6061 aluminum alloy and weighs in at nearly 63 pounds, which is actually not that bad considering the huge motor, battery and front suspension.
Suspension — RST, 100 mm of travel
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has RST spring suspension with approximately 100 mm of travel. This suspension also has preload adjust and compression adjust with lockout, so they can be adjusted on the fly to best suite the rider and the terrain being tackled.
Gearing — Shimano, 7 speed
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike uses a Simano Altus derailleur with a 7 speed cassette. It also has Shimano trigger shifters on the right side of the handlebars.
Brakes — Hydraulic disc, 160 mm rotor
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has Biktrix hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors in the front and rear. While hydraulic disc brakes offer superior braking to mechanical disc brakes, the 160 mm rotors do feel a bit small given how incredibly powerful and torquey this machine is. We’d love to see an option for 180 mm, or even 203 mm rotors to help maximize the stopping power of this bike in wet and muddy conditions. They also have motor inhibitors built into the brake levers, which instantly cut power to the motor whenever they are depressed, ensuring the shortest possible stopping distance.
Warranty — 7 day return, 2 year comprehensive.
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike has a 7 day money back guarantee and a 2 year comprehensive warranty.
Price — Starting at $2,399
Starting at $2,399, the Eunorau Fat-HD is very competitively priced and offers some incredible value. The price can jump a few hundred more if you get the upgraded 21 amp hour battery. Eunorau also offers free shipping to the contiguous United States, Canada and Australia, which is a huge savings.
Who’s it for — Trail riders and commuters who need power, speed and range at a reasonable price
The Eunorau Fat-HD electric bike feels like a good choice for those riders who like to set out on long, hilly trails or just need a competent vehicle for commuting. The Fat-HD does a great job at tackling huge hills and the powerful 1000 watt motor with 160 Newton meters of torque makes short work of just about everything you throw at it. But the included fenders and rear rack also means this the bike would work well for commuters who need to store extra gear. The optional 21 ah battery is also a nice touch, and we also appreciate the hydraulic disc brakes, torque sensor and front suspension. Overall, the Fat-HD is a pretty good deal considering what is being offered, and feels competitively priced. If you need an electric bike that can pretty much do it all, the Fat-HD fits the bill.
