LOTS OF OTHER WAYS TOO!
GOOD LUCK, AWESOME PEEPS!
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard is a high tech ride with all the bells and whistles you could possibly want, with three different ways to control the board and four independent motors for maximum power!
Power — 4 motors
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard has four independent motors that offer extreme power and torque. While we weren’t able to find the actual output of the motors on the Walnutt website, we can confidently say that this is far and beyond the most powerful electric skateboard we’ve tested to date and is able to breeze up even the steepest hills with ease.
Speed — 22 mph
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard has a top speed of 22 mph. Given the compact design of the Spectra Silver, one might think riding at top speed would introduce some speed wobbles. In fact, that’s not the case at all — the Spectra Silver is one of the most stable electric skateboards we’ve ever tested. However, the sacrifice for stability is maneuverability, and this board can feel a bit sluggish in the turns.
Battery and Range — 16 miles
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard has a max estimated range of nearly 16 miles. However, because the motors are so powerful, that max range can be drastically cut by tearing up hills.
The battery is housed inside the deck and is not removable, so while the battery is protected from dirt and debris, it can’t be taken out to be charged separately from the board.
Size and Weight — 18.5 pounds
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard is constructed from magnesium alloy and weighs in at nearly 19 pounds. The finish on the Silver is incredible and it looks like something sent back from the future. The finish is quite nice all around and nothing feels loose or rattly.
Controller — Posture, handheld, app
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard has three different ways it can be controlled. It is equipped with sensors in the deck that allow for posture control, so the rider can lean forward to accelerate and lean backwards to decelerate. While the gesture control is pretty cool, it really only feels safe to use at lower speeds.
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard can also be controlled via the included handheld controller, or the downloadable app. Both of which work quite well. However, there is not battery or speed indicator on the handheld controller, which means riders will need to unpair the remote and then sync to board to their phone to check the battery.
Price — $1,399
Starting at $1,399, the Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard isn’t cheap, but it’s also one of the most powerful boards on the market, and one of the most nicely finished as well. Walnutt does offer variants on the Silver that are more affordable, like the Spectra X, which starts at just $599 and still includes the posture control.
Who’s it for? — Commuters with an eye for the finer things
The Walnutt Spectra Silver electric skateboard feels like a good choice for those commuters who want something that stands out both in finish and performance. The Silver is incredibly powerful and can race up some seriously steep hills, and as far as looks go… it’s hard to compare. The braking is also noteworthy on the Silver as it is absolutely superb. In fact, the braking is so powerful that the back wheels will lift off the ground if the rider does not lean back far enough. For those who need something with power to spare, and for those who want various ways to control their electric skateboard, the Silver is definitely worth consideration.
