The Michael Blast - Outsider is a super cool, fun to ride blast from the past with high quality components and enough power, battery and speed to get you where you need to go in style.

Power — 750 nominal watts, 1,000 peak watts

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has a Bafang hub motor that can crank out a continuous 750 watts of power with the ability to ratchet things up to around 1,000 peak watts of power for hill climbs and quicker acceleration. This motor has 80 Newton meters of torque which also helps with accelerating and climbing hills, and comes in handy for muddy and sandy trails.

Speed  — 22 mph

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has a top speed of around 22 mph, which can be reached using the throttle or pedal assist, making this a class 3 electric bike. There is an option to keep it in a more street legal 20 mph mode, making the Outsider a class 2 electric bike.

Battery and Range — 48 volt 14.5 ah, 35 miles

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike runs on a 48 volt system and has a 14.5 ah battery for an estimated max range of 35 miles with pedal assist. The battery is beneath the plastic “gas tank” and can be locked for safe storage, and also easily removed to be charged separately from the bike.

Pedal assist sensor — Cadence sensor

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike is equipped with a cadence sensor that measures the rotation of the cranks. Like most cadence sensors, there is some delay from the time the rider starts and stops pedaling to the time the motor activates and deactivates.

Display — LCD

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike uses an LCD display located on the left side of the handlebars. This is a good display with plenty of electronic feedback including speed, distance, battery level, wattage output and more.

Frame and weight — 6061 Aluminum alloy, 50 pounds

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has a one frame size and plenty of super groovy color options, with a curb weight of nearly 50 pounds, which is pretty light. The frame is somewhere between compact and full-size, and is still quite comfy to ride, but because of the lower saddle height it’s difficult to get an efficient pedal stroke.

Suspension —  Solid forks

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has solid front forks and no suspension.

Gearing — Shimano, 7 speed

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has a Shimano Altus derailleur with a 7-speed cassette. It uses a Shimano Altus trigger shifter on the right side of the handlebars.

Brakes — Hydraulic disc

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has Hydraulic disc brakes with a 180 mm rotor in the front and 160 mm rotor in the rear, offering plenty of stopping power. The brake levers are equipped with motor inhibitors, which instantly cut power to the motor whenever the brake levers are depressed.

Warranty — 6 month comprehensive, 1 year electrical, 5 year frame

The Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike has a 6 month comprehensive warranty, with 1 a year warranty for the electrical components and a 5 year warranty on the frame.

Price — Starting at $2,999

Starting at $2,999, the Michael Blast - Outsider fat tire electric bike is outright pricey, but it’s also incredibly cool.

Who’s it for — Urban cruisers with an eye for style

The Michael Blast - Outsider is all about the groovy retro vibes. This is not the most practical electric bike, and it’s not the best commuter, but what when it comes to riding in style and having fun while you’re doing it, this is pretty darn hard to beat.
