INTRO

Throw away ye boards of old, folks, because we're diving into the world of electric skateboards with the Evolve Carbon GTR! This bad boy is the bat-mobile of electric skateboards, built for cruising around town like a boss. It's got a top speed of 24mph, which is faster than most people can run, and a range of 19 miles, which is farther than most people can walk. And it doesn't require any effort, so it’s more fun than both of those things. 

COMPANY OVERVIEW

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard is priced at $1,599 USD and comes with a 2-year warranty. Evolve is based out of Australia, home of the kangaroo and vegemite sandwich, and has been making electric skateboards for more than a decade. That's right, these Aussies have been perfecting their craft and it shows in the quality of this skateboard.

DECK MATERIAL

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard is made with the highest grade carbon fiber, which is like the caviar of deck materials. Each deck is hand-made, like a fine wine or a hand-crafted beer. The deck is a lengthy 39 inches, giving you enough room to do the electric slide. And the wheelbase is a spacious 37 inches, axle to axle, giving you stability and control. It's like riding on a magic carpet but without the beautiful princess. 

TRUCKS

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard is rollin' on some seriously fancy Evolve Super Carve Trucks. These babies are a perfect combination of forged and CNC components, with a width of 12 inches and 8mm axles. They're basically the Ferraris of truck technology.

WHEELS

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard comes with 7-inch pneumatic all-terrain wheels. They'll make your ride smooth as butter and make you feel like you're gliding on a cloud. I’ll do my best to steer clear of blatant Disney copyright infringement, but when I ride this on this board, it feels like a “hole new world”. If you’re just listening to this you won’t get how hilarious that is. 

MOTOR

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard is powered by dual 3000-Watt, brushless motors. It's like having two little Formula One engines strapped to your skateboard. The motor controller is an Evolve Custom Dual-Motor Driver with FOC motor commutation, Bluetooth connection, and adjustable acceleration curves. It's like having a personal NASA engineer on call, but for your Skateboard. “Houston, we have a skateboard. The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard has a top speed of 24mph, that's faster than a speeding bullet! Unless you compare it to…well…bullets. 

BATTERY

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard comes with a battery that packs more wallop than a cup of coffee on a Monday morning. It's 14AH, 504WH, and it’ll have you cruising for 19 miles on a single charge, enough to get you from one end of the city to the other and back. The best part? You can fully charge it up in just 4-5 hours. No more waiting around all day for your skateboard to charge up. The GTR barely moves the scales at 25.3 lbs. When you compare that to its max load capacity of 220 lbs, the power of this skateboard becomes really apparent. 

REMOTE

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric skateboard comes with a remote control that's built to last. The Evolve Phaze remote is a piece of art, with a CNC aluminum-reinforced body that's sure to turn some heads.

TERRAIN

The Carbon GTR is suitable for short grass, dirt, gravel, roads, and footpaths. It is also great for sliding on offroad terrain, but not recommended on sealed surfaces. If you’re looking to head up a hill, make sure it’s less than a 25% grade, as that is the recommended max angle for this bad boy. 

BRAKING

The Evolve Carbon GTR has built-in FOC regenerative braking. The experience here is super smooth! And if you didn't know what was going on, you might not be able to tell! The short answer to “what is regenerative braking?” is this: When the motor is braking, some of that build-up of energy is transferred back to the battery, meaning you can ride longer, using hills and stopping to your advantage. We mentioned we have adjustable braking curves earlier, so just reminding you that these are adjustable, and you can custom-tune this board to be the best experience for you. 

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Evolve Carbon GTR electric Skateboard is a great option for those who want a high-performance and stylish electric skateboard for commuting and cruising around town. Did we mention it’s like the Batmobile?  It’s light, packs a punch, and the powerful dual motors and all-terrain wheels make it suitable for whatever surface you’re looking to cruise over. All-in-all, for $1,599 USD, the GTR seems like one heckuva deal.
