The DYU King 750 is a powerful fat tire electric Mountain bike with upgrades across the board. It’s equipped with a 750 hub motor that can take this versatile e-bike up to a top speed of 28 mph, and a 20 amp hour battery with a max range of 80 miles.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

DYU offers a 1-year warranty and 14-day free trial on their products. The King 750 has a starting price of $2,199 USD, and comes in one size and one color, black. However, at the time of this review the King 750 is on sale for $1,599 USD. That’s a pretty sweet 27% off right there.

MOTOR

The King 750 is powered by a rear hub 750 nominal watt motor with a peak output of 900 watts and 75 Newton meters of torque. In other words, this e-bike has some pick-up-and-go to it.

This motor can bring the King 750 up to a top speed of 28 mph using the half-grip twist throttle, or the speed sensing pedal assist.

BATTERY

The King 750 comes with a locking, removable 20 amp hour battery that completely disappears into the downtube. This battery offers a max pedal assist range of about 80 miles, and a max throttle-only range of nearly 50 miles. Thats Pretty good, I mean we rode this bike for half the day during our testing and didn’t see a dent in the battery charge! And because of the battery position, the King 750’s center of gravity remains relatively low. This is great for those who want to take this machine off the beaten path.

FRAME

Even though it has an aluminum frame, The King 750 is heavy, weighing in at just under 100 pounds. The great news is that, I couldn't really feel the weight of the King 750 when trying maneuvering through technical terrain or a Bike course. But even with all that weight, the max payload capacity is only 330 pounds.

SUSPENSION

Th King 750 comes with a front spring suspension and seat post suspension. So, it’s not a true full suspension ride, but when you’re in the saddle it’s actually pretty cush on the pavement and even on some light trails. But anything too extreme and you’ll quickly bottom out the shocks.

The massive 26 inch by 4 inch fat tires also add some extra suspension to the King 750, but it would be great if DYU offered a true full suspension version in the future.

BRAKES

This is another bright spot for the King 750. This electric mountain bike is outfitted with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, offering plenty of stopping power. And this is incredibly important for an e-bike like this with a high 28 mph top speed and a heavy 100 pound curb weight. 10 points for the added safety!

DRIVETRAIN

In the back of the King 750 we’ve got a Shimano 7-speed derailleur paired with a Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter.

LIGHTS/FENDERS/EXTRAS

The King 750 has an integrated headlight wired directly into the bike’s battery. This is great as it means you’ll never have to worry about changing out button cell batteries. If you got juice in the tank, your lights will work. That’s great!

On the other hand, this headlight isn’t particularly bright. If you enjoy night rides as much as we do, you’ll definitely want to grab an aftermarket light with around 2,000 lumens of output to adequately illuminate your trail. Still, I appreciate the added visibility this headlight adds. It’ll help oncoming traffic spot you more easily.

COCKPIT

The narrow handlebars are great for maneuvering through tight spaces, but it does mean you sacrifice some control. In the middle we have a beautiful color display that looks like it was ripped straight from the ‘80s. Very Stranger Things vibes. This display has all the information you need like current speed, max speed, odometer, tripometer and all the other usual goodies. On the left side of the handlebars we’ve got the independent button pad, and on the right side we’ve got the half-grip twist throttle and the shifter.

SUMMARY

Overall the DYU King 750 is a sweet ride with a powerful motor, big battery and upgrades in all the right places. I love that DYU went with hydraulic disc brakes here. The added stopping power is critical, and should be the industry standard. It’s nice to DYU helping to lead the way here. I also love the front suspension and seat post suspension setup. It makes longer rides so much more enjoyable, and those who plan to use this as commuter will definitely appreciate it.

With a starting price of $2,199, the King 750 is an okay deal. But at the sale price of $1,599, it’s a very good deal. I’m not sure how long the discount will be available, but hopefully DYU will keep the price here for as long as possible.

This bike looks amazing! What a range! I wish there were more payment options- or even a rental option.
