The BPM Imports F-15X is a well rounded folding electric bike with a powerful motor and a huge battery that’s ready for extended commutes through the city or the trails.
Power — 1,000 nominal watts, 1,500 peak watts
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has a powerful Bafang hub motor with 1,000 nominal watts of power and approximately 1,500 watts of peak power, and 85 Newton meters of torque. This is one of the most of powerful motors we’ve seen on a folding electric bike, and will make this a great hill climber and mud warrior.
Speed — 24 mph
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has a top speed of 24 mph, which can be reached using the throttle or pedal assist, making this a class 3 electric bike and therefore not legal to ride in some areas. This top speed is a bit lower than normal, especially for a 1,000 watt motor, but the sacrifice in speed affords additional torque.
Battery and Range — 48 volt 21 ah, 50 miles
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike runs on a 48 volt system and has a massive 21 ah battery for an estimated max range of 50 miles with pedal assist. The battery is located behind the seat post, which does make the F-15X a bit back heavy since the motor is also in the back wheel. The battery can be removed for charging and storage.
Pedal assist sensor — Cadence sensor
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike is equipped with a cadence sensor that measures the rotation of the cranks. Like most cadence sensors, there is some delay from the time the rider starts and stops pedaling to the time the motor activates and deactivates.
Display — LCD
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike display is located on the left side of the handlebars with plenty of electronic feedback including speed, distance, battery level, wattage output and more.
Frame and weight — 6061 Aluminum alloy, 60 pounds
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike one frame size and one color — black — with a curb weight of nearly 60 pounds. This is quite heavy for a folding electric bike, but the F-15X does have full suspension, a huge battery and motor and fat tires so it’s not too surprising. The single tube design keeps the standover height low and makes it easy for riders to place their feet flat on the ground when at a complete stop. The frame folds in half and the handlebars fold down for easy storage.
Suspension — Solid forks
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has solid front fork and no rear suspension. The fat tires do offer some cushion, but this is still a bit of a stiff ride.
Gearing — Shimano, 7 speed
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has a Shimano Tourney derailleur with a 7-speed cassette. It uses a Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter on the right side of the handlebars.
Brakes — Tektro, hydraulic disc
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has Tektro hydraulic disc brakes in the front and rear with 160 mm rotors. These brakes offer ample stopping powered the brake levers are equipped with motor inhibitors, which instantly cut power to the motor whenever the brake levers are depressed.
Warranty — 1 year battery, 90 days parts
The BPM Imports F-15X electric bike has a 1 year warranty on the battery and 90 days on the parts, but there is an option to upgrade to a 1 year warranty on parts for an additional $99.00.
Price — Starting at $1,499
Starting at $1,499, the BPM Imports F-15X electric bike is well priced considering the powerful motor and huge battery. BPM Imports also offers free shipping anywhere in the U.S., which is a nice bit of savings.
Who’s it for — Adventurers with limited space
This feels like a good choice for those who love the outdoors but don’t have tons of space to store their electric bike. The BPM Imports F-15X is a solid folding electric bike that can easily cruise through the city but also tackle some modest off-road trails. The motor is more powerful and has more torque than most folding electric bikes which also makes this a good choice for those who live in a hilly area or expect to run into mud, sand, snow or gravel on their adventures.
